Chartered in 1949 as Memorial Hospital of Bay County, Bay Medical has expanded greatly over the years, most recently in 2010 with the addition of a new five-story patient care tower featuring 144 private patient rooms. However, Bay Medical’s mission of providing a full range of quality health care services to everyone in our community has remained unchanged. In fact, Bay Medical provided more than $30 million in charity and uncompensated care to the community in 2011 alone, without tax support from Bay County.

On April 2, 2012, Sacred Heart Health System, Inc. and LHP Hospital
Group, Inc. (LHP) finalized a 40-year lease and asset purchase agreement to form a joint venture that leases and operates Bay Medical Center. The joint venture’s governing board has equal representation from LHP and Sacred Heart, and a local Board of Trustees composed of physicians and community leaders that oversee day-to-day decisions.
