Cure for Whiplash Related Headaches

– Whiplash from car accidents can lead to severe, long term headaches.
Panama City Neurosurgeon Dr. Joel Franck has developed a revolutionary way to deal with the pain.
Nysha Baker, 22, was involved in a car accident. She says the accident caused severe headaches that made it difficult for her to function.
"I thought my life was changed, but I got my life back," said Nysha.
By examining a Dynamic Motion X-ray, Dr. Franck was able to discover that headache pain from whiplash can be resolved through a minimally invasive fusion operation.
Dr. Franck explains that "the device takes a video x-ray of the patient moving their neck. We can actually look at how the neck spine and vertebrae move relative to each other."
By knowing this information, Dr. Franck was able to develop an operation that he had normally used for fractures to now solve the problem of headaches resulting from whiplash.
The minimally invasive surgery fuses two vertebrae together with small screws and small bone fragments. When the patient wakes up from surgery, Dr. Franck says the headaches are gone.
"We have followed 30 patients for up to two years, and their headache doesn't come back," says Dr. Franck.
Dr. Franck says there have been no serious complications, and he doesn't anticipate any from the operation because he uses a radar device that tracks the movement of the instruments during surgery to insure precision and safety.
This surgery will only help severe headaches caused by whiplash, not migraine headaches from other causes.
