PANAMA CITY, Fla. – A Las Vegas headliner is the featured entertainment at the 25th Anniversary Society Gala hosted by the Bay Medical Foundation this fall to benefit the hospital’s new patient tower.
“For 25 years we have been providing an evening of top-notch entertainment, and this year will be no exception,” said Gala Chairman Rodney Morris, M.D. “We have been fortunate to secure one of Las Vegas’ brightest stars, Gordie Brown, for the Nov. 19 Gala.”
Brown is a former cartoonist from Montreal who has become a “masterful impressionist, comedian, singer and dancer all rolled into one,” according to Morris. He has consistently received rave reviews and was voted Nevada’s “Entertainer of the Year,” in addition to receiving awards for “Best Comedian,” “Best Show,” and “Best Entertainer.”
Brown is well known for his amazing comedy and impressions of such celebrities as Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jack Nicholson, Robert DeNiro, Sylvester Stallone, Elvis Presley and Sammy Davis, Jr.
The Foundation expects to raise $200,000 from the gala to help equip the 144-bed tower that is scheduled to open in September.
The new building includes spacious private rooms with hotel-like amenities, including WIFI, comfortable recliners and sofa sleepers so loved ones can spend the night, Bay Medical President and CEO Steve Johnson said during a press conference inside the nearly finished structure.
“The tower would not be possible without the philanthropic support of our community,” Johnson said. “This beautiful new building is just one more tool that will allow our staff and physicians to continue providing the excellent care that has helped us become a Top 50 Hospital in America for three years in a row.”
Johnson said the Gala is an important part of the Foundation’s fundraising efforts and for almost 25 years it has been the premier social, fundraising event of the year, raising almost $3 million.
