Bay Medical is a community hospital that has provided quality healthcare in our area for more than 60 years. Our volunteers are at the heart of this organization and help enhance the commitment Bay Medical has made to being the premier healthcare facility in our area. In addition, volunteers are an essential part of the level of excellence we provide to our patients and their families during difficult times.
If you choose to participate in this tradition of excellence, you will be rewarded with gratification and enjoyment for your sacrifice of time and talent. You will form new friendships, experience new challenges, and have the opportunity to take pride in being actively involved at Bay Medical.
Whether you need to complete hours for a scholarship program, gain experience or want to give back to the community, Bay Medical’s volunteer programs will offer you many choices in finding just the right fit for your talents and skills and our hospital needs.
Through these programs many volunteers may work throughout the hospital in a variety of departments such as:
• Gift/Uniform Shop
• Information Desk
• Intensive Care Waiting Room
• Patient Rounding
• Emergency Department
• Surgical Services
• Magazine Delivery
• Human Resources
• Medical Records
• And many more!
Bay Medical offers three volunteer programs:
Adult: The Bay Medical Auxiliary is a program that has more than 150 active adult volunteers who provide support services throughout our hospital, 365 days a year, to enhance the patient experience. Each year they contribute more than 36,000 hours in service.
High School: a year-round, seven-day-a-week program for highly motivated high school student volunteers who require hours for various scholarship programs or simply want to make a difference. We also have a summer Volunteen program for students who have completed the eighth grade and want to volunteer their time. For more information on this program see the program details here. If you would like to apply for this program please download the application and health history documents and follow the instructions to submit the application packet.
Special Service: a skill-based volunteer program that matches community professionals with administrative sponsors throughout non-clinical hospital departments. Volunteers can apply their skills and talents to a broad range of projects at the hospital. For those seeking greater volunteering flexibility and a way to apply their experience to the health care environment, becoming a Special Services Volunteer at Bay Medical can be an ideal fit.
