Like mother, like daughter

Leading by example is a good way to teach healthy eating habits, according to a study that found when moms add more fruits and vegetables to their plates, their daughters do the same. Researchers from Appalachian State University looked at the eating habits of 173 moms and their 7-year-old daughters. They found that the girls who ate the most produce increased their intake when their moms did and were also less likely to be picky eaters. They also found that the moms with diets heavy in fruits and vegetables rarely pressured their daughters to eat. The girls simply followed in their mothers’ footsteps naturally.
