Pediatrician visits matter

Twenty percent of children aren’t getting all of the recommended immunizations between birth and 36 months. In a Columbia University Medical Center and New York-Presbyterian Hospital study, researchers found that parents who had to reschedule an appointment were nearly four times as likely to miss their child’s immunization appointment as those who didn’t have to reschedule. Likewise, parents who doubted the importance of vaccines and those who had difficulty communicating with their child’s healthcare provider were likely to miss appointments. Remember: Vaccines prevent diseases. Not immunizing your child puts him or her—and others—at risk.
