|Taking medicine in school|
Many schools have strict guidelines about kids taking medicine during the school day. If your child must take a prescription during the day, work closely with your school administrators. Some issues you’ll encounter:
• Paperwork: The school will need authorization from you and clear directions from the physician explaining dosage and times to the school nurse.
• Inhalers: Most schools let asthmatic kids carry their albuterol inhalers. However, the nurse will still require a signed medical form from your doctor.
• Blanket instructions: Some schools ask parents at the start of the school year for permission to administer simple medications to pupils. That way, the child can be treated for a headache or an upset stomach without delay.
