If you’ve been diagnosed with diabetes or have developed complications of the disease, Bay Medical offers several services and medical treatment options.

Bay Med Pharmacy – Conveniently located in the medical office building on the Bay Medical campus, our pharmacy offers vital supplies, such as glucose meters and strips for monitoring your condition and Dr. Comfort and Surefit shoes to prevent callouses and blisters, which can often become infected and difficult to heal if you have diabetes. These shoes are covered by most insurances. Visit the pharmacy to view our selection or call 850-747-6829 to schedule a custom fitting.

HealthPlex – An important component of managing your diabetes is regular exercise. Bay Medical HealthPlex offers a comprehensive array of group fitness classes for all ages and fitness levels as well as the latest in cardio and weight machines.

Wound Healing Center — The Wound Healing Center has an impressive record of healing wounds that others thought hopeless, including many that might have required amputation. Carefully researched methods allow patients to receive state-of-the-art treatment for wounds that have resisted healing despite months, or even years, of conventional treatment.

Hyperbaric Medicine Department — Hyperbaric medicine treats wounds, such as non-healing, diabetic ulcers, by allowing patients to breathe 100 percent oxygen while under increased atmospheric pressure in a recompression chamber. This treatment helps to increase circulation and heal patients’ wounds.

Heart Institute — Bay Medical’s Heart Institute was the first in Florida to receive national accreditation from The Joint Commission in the treatment of heart attack. The Heart Institute is the only program in the area that offers open-heart surgery and the only area hospital that requires cardiologists who perform cardiac interventions, such as angioplasty to treat a heart attack, to be board certified in interventional cardiology.

Stroke Team — Since 1997, Bay Medical has had a stroke team in place consisting of physicians, surgeons and numerous support staff. Bay Medical was the first hospital in Florida to be certified by The Joint Commission as Center of Excellence in Stroke Care.

Plaque Excision — Bay Medical offers a number of technologies to treat PVD and safely remove harmful plaque from arteries in the legs. These procedures either remove the plaque or ablate (burn) through the plaque, which helps increase blood flow to the legs and feet.
