Nicole and Brad Hopkins Welcome Twins
Elodie & Corbin

An unexpected turn of events prompted Nicole Hopkins to schedule her delivery at Bay Medical, and the new mom of twins said the service was beyond her expectations.

“I couldn’t have asked for anything better,” says Nicole, who along with husband Brad welcomed twins Corbin Celeste and Elodie Roe into the world via C-section at the Bay Medical Women & Children’s Unit. “They took care of us from the time we walked in until the babies were strapped in the car seat safely, and we were driving away.”

“Excellence isn’t by chance,” says Nicole. “It takes hard work and Bay Medical has delivery excellence.”

Nicole didn’t realize that until after her own experience. Carrying twins conceived by in vitro fertilization, she had planned to have her babies at an out-of-county hospital associated with a neo-natal unit and then, after her doctor left the area, another hospital in town. But after seeing “ward-like” conditions there while on a false-labor trip, Nicole scheduled her C-section at Bay Medical.

That morning, “I was so scared, but the nurses had me so relaxed and calm.”

After delivery, an inconsolable Elodie began crying and a nurse handed her to Nicole, saying, “talk to your baby.” Nicole whispered “hey baby” and Elodie immediately stopped crying.

“That was such an awesome moment, and that nurse delivered that moment to me, and I will remember it always,” says Nicole, her eyes wet with tears as she relays the story.

Nicole says she received one-on-one training in breastfeeding and infant care and dozens of practical tips, such as how to help babies expel painful gas. A bonus was a steak dinner prepared to order on her last night – “It was fabulous.”

“Our new family was welcomed into the world by the best,” says Nicole.

D.J. & Joe Tannehill Welcome Natalie

When D.J. & Joe Tannehill were preparing to have their first baby, they chose Bay Medical because of its reputation for clinical quality. The delivery far exceeded their expectations.

“From the minute we stepped off the elevator, we were given such personalized attention,” says D.J. “Our nurses were exactly the type we had prayed for – kind, compassionate and knowledgeable. It was clear that everyone cared about making our first birth experience wonderful, and they most certainly did.”

Bay Medical’s reputation for clinical quality stems from receiving the Women's Health Excellence Award and a Five-Star rating for two years in a row. It also is ranked among the top 5 percent in the nation for women’s health, according to HealthGrades, a leading healthcare ratings organization. Bay Medical also is rated Best in Region for Women’s Health this year and was the only hospital in the region to receive the Women’s Health Excellence Award.

“We couldn’t be happier that we trusted Bay Medical with delivering little Natalie,” says D.J.
