Open 24/7. Call (850) 747-2900.

The first emergency department in Panama City Beach opened Tuesday, June 27 at 11111 Panama City Beach Parkway at Bay Med at the Beach. An official ribbon cutting ceremony was held on Monday with the Panama City Beach and Bay County Chambers of Commerce. Elected officials, hospital board members and Bay Medical Sacred Heart employees were on hand for the formal opening ceremony, with several acknowledging the long-time need for emergency services on the beach.

Bay County Commissioner and Hospital Trustee Griff Griffitts can save patients on the beach valuable time by not having to cross the Hathaway Bridge for ER services.

“This is a conversation that has been going on for well over 20 years, to bring something like this to the beach so I’m glad Bay Medical Sacred Heart has taken the initiative and finally brought this to fruition,” he said. “This is a really big day for the beach and Bay County as a whole.”

CEO Steve Grubbs said Bay Medical Beach ER provides the same services and “the same great quality of care” as our primary ER, located at the hospital at 615 N. Bonita Ave.

Board of Trustees Chairman Lisa Walters said the build shows a commitment to ensure the community has good, quality medical care that is accessible. She said emergency medical care on the beach is important to the tourist and business community.
