Bay Medical to Participate in Research of Placentas for Use in Tissue Grafts

Panama City, FL – Bay Medical Center and their current tissue donation organization, LifeNet Health of FL, will now begin collecting placentas for research. Extensive research will be conducted to evaluate the placental tissue for transplantable grafts that could be utilized for treating burns and chronic wounds as well as repair of corneal scarring. LifeNet Health, whose mission is ‘Saving Lives and Restoring Health’, will be evaluating placental tissue for future transplantable grafts.

This project will last one year. LifeNet Health’s staff, alongside the staff of North Florida OB/GYN and Coastal OB/GYN will offer this option to all expectant mothers that are scheduled for a C-Section delivery. All the staff at Bay Medical Center and LifeNet Health of Florida is excited to be a part of this innovative project.
