Ambulatory Insulin Program
The Diabetes Center has developed an outpatient insulin program that offers quality care at a cost far lower than hospitalization. People with diabetes have traditionally been admitted to the hospital, when starting insulin therapy. However, studies show that most patient do as well or better by starting insulin as an outpatient.
This program consists of a series of appointments with the diabetes care specialist. We will maintain close contact with you and your referring physician during the program. As your insulin dosage is adjusted and you move forward toward stabilizing your blood sugar, you will be frequently contacted by a team member. Then you will return to your physicians care with a diabetes status report and suggestions for further management.
