Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation

Bay Medical has established the area's only cardiopulmonary rehabilitation program at HealthPlex. The physician-supervised program is designed for patients who have been diagnosed with or treated for diseases of the heart, lungs or circulatory system, such as:

Cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation will be available for patients referred to the program by their physician.

Assessment

The cardiopulmonary rehabilitation program works jointly with the physician, patient and family members on an individual basis to determine appropriate treatment goals.

Exercise

Patients will receive training regarding use of exercise equipment while at HealthPlex - such as treadmills, stationary and recumbent bicycles and free weights - as well as instruction on appropriate exercise levels and heart rate monitoring techniques. To ensure optimum safety, patients are monitored via telemetry and oxygen saturation levels, just as they would be as inpatients at the hospital. Unless otherwise requested, patients receive home programs and are encouraged to continue their optimum level of activity for life. Cardiac Rehabilitation

Cardiac rehabilitation is designed to assist patients in regaining and maintaining optimal physical, social, and emotional health, with benefits which may include:

A physician will determine the length of individualized cardiac rehabilitation; however, a typical program lasts approximately 12 weeks.

Pulmonary Rehabilitation

Pulmonary rehabilitation works to return the patient to the highest possible level of functioning given the patient's health status and lifestyle, with benefits which may include:

A physician will determine the length of individualized pulmonary rehabilitation; however, a typical program last approximately 10 visits.

Insurance Coverage

The program is covered by most insurance policies. Other payment arrangements include Medicare, private pay and commercial insurance.
