Society Gala Headlined By Jo Dee Messina To Benefit Women & Children's Services

November 21, 2003

Panama City, FL - Tonight, Bay Medical Foundation will host the 18th Annual Society Gala at Edgewater Beach Resort. Top recording artist, Jo Dee Messina will headline this year's gala with proceeds benefiting the Women's & Children's Unit.

Jo Dee Messina's critical acclaim includes three albums, a greatest hits album, the prestigious Country Music Association Horizon Award, the Academy of Country Music's Top New Female Vocalist, Boston Music Awards Artist of the Year, eight number one singles and two top 10 crossover smashes with "Burn" and "Bring on the Rain."

"We are very fortunate to have Jo Dee Messina performing at the Gala this year. Response has been overwhelming and the event was sold out weeks ago," said Rebecca Spann, Gala Chairman. "We expect to raise over $140,000 for the Women's and Children's Unit."

Bay Medical has always provided the best care for mothers and their new babies. The proceeds from this year's Gala will enable Women's Services to enhance this care.

The new, family-centered approach will encourage and support the new mother and father in assuming a greater role in the care of their newborn. This family-friendly atmosphere will enhance the bonding and educational opportunities in a home-like setting.

Bay Medical delivers over 700 babies a year and has a dedicated staff of specially trained certified nurses caring for the newborn babies and mothers. We have a wonderful opportunity awaiting us at Bay Medical: one in which we can improve patient care, patient satisfaction, and increase staff productivity simultaneously.

In order to implement this family-centered approach, some new equipment and renovations of the current OB unit will be required. Therefore, the proceeds from this year's Society Gala will be used to help fund these necessary renovations.
