Bay Medical named one of the nation's 100 Top Hospitals by Solucient

Panama City, Florida - Bay Medical was named one of the nation's 100 Top Hospitals® by Solucient, the leading source of clinical information and analysis in the healthcare industry.
This award recognizes hospitals that have achieved excellence in quality of care, operational efficiency, financial performance and adaptation to the environment. Bay Medical is one of only seven hospitals in Florida and the only hospital in the panhandle this year to receive this award.
"All of our employees, medical staff and management have played a part in our success in receiving this award," says Steve Johnson, President and CEO of Bay Medical.
"This study looks at a full range of outcomes and complements all of Bay Medical's accomplishments this past year including the disease-specific accreditations from JCAHO for the treatment of stroke and heart attack."
The twelfth edition of Solucient's 100 Top Hospitals: National Benchmarks for Success study appears in a special supplement to the February 28th edition of Modern Healthcare magazine. Facilities recognized on the list are represented across five hospital classes: major teaching, teaching, large community, medium community and small community. Bay Medical was one of 20 winners in the large community class.
The study scored facilities according to key measures: risk-adjusted mortality, complications, and patient safety index; average length of stay; expenses; profitability; cash to total debt ratio, tangible assets per adjusted discharge; and growth in percent of community served.
Some of the key findings of the twelfth edition of Solucient's 100 Top Hospitals: National Benchmarks for Success study are that this year's benchmark hospitals have higher survival rates, lower complication indices, shorter lengths of stay and lower expenses compared with the peer group of United States hospitals.
