Panama City, FL – The Bay County Commission recently approved the appointment of Paul Hunt, M.D. and Andy Stein to serve a four-year term on the Bay Medical Board of Trustees, which begins December 2008. They will fill the positions vacated by Richard Walker, M.D. and Ben Redding whose terms have expired. John Robert Middlemas was also approved to serve a second four-year term.

“Bay Medical is very fortunate because both of these men have already demonstrated tremendous commitment to the hospital with many years of dedicated service,” says President and CEO Steve Johnson. Dr. Hunt has practiced medicine at Bay Medical for 29 years and Andy Stein has previously served on the Board of Trustees for eight years.

Pediatrician Dr. Hunt has worked with countless families raising children in our community and in some cases has treated more than one generation. Dr. Hunt has served as Bay Medical’s Chief of Pediatrics five times in 1980, 1984, 1986, 1990 and in 1999. He has also served as President of Medical Staff at Bay Medical in 1988. He graduated from the Tulane University School of Medicine and is certified by the American Board of Pediatrics. “Over the years I have seen the good things that Bay Medical does for people in this community,” says Dr. Hunt. “I look forward to working with the board to continue this incredible service.”

Mr. Stein brings a wealth of financial experience to the board and is currently serving as President and CEO of Summit Bank. When previously on the Board of Trustees, he served as Chairman for two years. “Healthcare is one of the most vital services provided in a community for overall quality of life,” says Stein. “Bay Medical’s ability to offer quality healthcare to the public, regardless of ability to pay, is incredibly important to our growing population and the hospital’s reputation for excellence makes our community more attractive to new businesses and residents. I look forward to serving at Bay Medical again and working to continue this tradition of quality.”

The Bay Medical Board of Trustees elected the 2009 slate of officers during their Dec. 8 meeting. Chairman will be Greg Brudnicki, Vice Chairman will be Floyd Skinner, and Donald Connor will serve as Secretary/Treasurer.
